Lord Shri Kalmeshwara Prasanna

It's a culture and tradition followed from decade, believing that LORD SHRI KALMESHAWARA is SRISAILA LORD MALLIKARAJUNA of ANDHRA PRADESH.
LORD MALLIKARJUNA has known to world as many names, where we worship god. Once LORD MALLIKARJUNA gave promise to SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA, that where ever he goes and stays , LORD MALLIKARJUNA will come along with him, but he will come in the form of LINGA(STONE statue, where HINDUS worship LORD SHIVA).
As promise made to SRISAILA SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA, LORD MALLIKARJUNA came as MALLAYA in the form of LINGA (stone statue) in place SOLLAPURA (SONALIGI). And in KARANATAKA, BIJAPURA DISTIRICT and SINDHANUR TALUK, GOLLERI PLACE came as GOLLESHWAR.

For the purpose of making good to the world, SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA travelled all along the places of the world. Once SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA was very upset. He decided to go far away from surrounding people. He came to HUBLI TALUK, stayed in a forest place which is nearer to HUBLI. Forest place also called as RUSHIPURA.

MRUSHAPURA mean the place where WILD ANIMALS use to live, RUSHIPURA mean is the place where RUSHI made JAPA .fully covered with forest and built a small hut called as ASHRAM and made small VARATHEY for water( In olden days it was believed that, people used find water by digging some sort of mud in the ground). So with the water, SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA use to do POOJA and JAPA (meditation in the name of god). Now the same place RUSHIPURA is called as SULLA, which is a small village.

Sixteen Villages combined to SOLLAPURA. Earlier this SOLLAPURA knew as SONALIGI, in MARATHI language SOLA mean sixteen. These Sixteen villages was a gift to SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA, knew as SOLAPURA which periodically became SOLLAPURA. How this SOLLAPURA has relation to sixteen, in the same name SULLA Village also has relation. It is also called as Second SOLLAPURA.

Salesman from GOLLARI place, use to go HUBLI and to other places, to sell cotton in the market. Earlier people use to travel using cattle, bullock carts to other places. Salesman had BANNAK SAVIRA YATHU( mean each color of cattle had count one thousand, suppose he had cattle with color white, he had one thousand cattle’s of color white. In the same way he had one thousand cattle’s for every color. Here BANNA =COLOR, SAVIRA=THOUSAND,YATHU=CATTLE). This salesman use to keep cotton on cattle’s and uses to travel all other places. They use to place cotton on both the sides of cattle so has to balance together.

As Salesman kept cotton on both the sides of cattle’s. He finds that on one of the cattle cotton is not balanced. So to make up the balance on the cattle, they keep ASARGALLU (mean they keep a stone on the one side of the cattle and other side with the cotton, to make up balance, ASARA=HELP, KALLU mean STONE, ASARA+KALLU=ASARGALLU).

Once a salesman was going towards HUBLI, to sell cotton. He decides to camp in a forest for a day and keeps all cotton to ground that was kept on cattle , since they travelled long way from GOLLERI place towards HUBLI. At this point he asks his followers to climb trees and search for water, some of his followers climb’s trees, to search for water. Followers inform to salesman that they see smoke near by hoping that some one is staying there. Then salesman along with the followers goes towards the place where smoke was originating. There they found SADHU, who was none other than SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA. Salesman request for water, so that they can take bath, cook and also give water for cattle’s to drink. SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA points the water towards VARATHEY, salesman and along with the followers smiles to themselves and says to SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA that the water will not be sufficient for cattle’s, and for all of us. SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA tells that it will more than sufficient and ask to use the water. Salesman along with the followers took cattle’s for drinking water, took bath, and cooked food for all the people and surprisingly they found that, the water in VARATHEY was not empty and it was still full. Finally salesman thinks that SADU is not a normal person and goes to SADHU SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA and asks for forgiveness and does NAMASTHEY (It’s a Indian tradition that people when they pray to god or give respect to Elders, they fold hands). While leaving the place they give promise to SADU SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA that if they get a profit 1 of 2 then they will build a MATTA to him. The place they rested is the place where LORD KALMESHWAR TEMPLE built now.

When salesman and his followers left the place, on the way they felt that they forgot to take ASARGALLU, which was kept in the camp. Salesman ask one of his follower to get that, one of the follower finds and tries to pick up but he will not be able to even shake the stone. Stone will be stuck in the ground, ask some of his people to help him but still he will not be able to pick up. Later he informs the difficulty to salesman, salesman becomes surprise and says SULLU HELTHIYA (mean you are lieing sullu=mean lie, Helthiya=says). Later salesman and followers went towards ASARAGALLU tried to pick. He couldn’t pick too, so he finally decided to meet SADHU SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA, and told about the problem they were facing about the stone while picking up. So SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA told to everyone that, you people name him KALLU (STONE), so from now i will name him as SHRI KALMESHWARA and you people told SULLU HELTHIYA, so from now we will name this place as SULLA. This is how SHRI KALMESHWARA temple and SULLA place name came into existence.

As the promise made to SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA salesman, makes a profit 1 of 10 in the market. Becomes happy and visits SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA, built’s MATTA and constructs small temple for SHRI KALMESHWARA. After many years, salesman wife will be suffering from stomach pain. Salesman doesn’t find solution, so he will come once again to SHRI KALMESHWARA temple which he constructed long back, and forgot to appoint some POOJARI to temple. So salesman wishes to LORD SHRI KALMESHWARA that if his wife recovers from stomach pain, he will appoint POOJARI to do poojas. When he saw that his wife recovered from stomach pain, salesman appoints a POOJARI to temple for which the POOJARI got paid monthly basis.

After long years, three BROTHERS and their MOTHER visit to SHRI KALMESHWARA TEMPLE. Looking at the temple, younger brother will get involved in god and decides to stay in the temple for ever. In the same way second younger brother visits SHRI SIDDRAMESHWARA MATTA, looking at the place even he decides to stay in MATTA. Elder brother decides to leave the place, when he asks his two younger brothers to join him, younger brothers denies and decides to stay in the same place. Last younger brother decides to serve and do POOJA in temple, whereas second younger brother decides to stay in MATTA where SHRI SIDDARAMESHWARA stayed. Looking at his two brothers, Elder brother also decides to stay back and look after place.

Younger brother used to do POOJA to SHRI KALMESHWARA, he was so much involved in doing POOJAS, that he used to get water from VARATHEY and not made used any other water to do POOJA. After POOJA smaller brother went to ELDER brother house and bought YEDDY to GOD (It is a Indian tradition that whenever POOJA is done, we first keep dish to GOD before some one haves the dish). And even now the tradition is followed in place SULLA, that when dish is made ready in ELDER brother house, they will inform to POOJARI and POOJARI himself go and brings the dish to GOD, even now the water that is used to do POOJA for LORD KALMESHWARA is bought from VARATHEY, which is now become a well and not made used of any other water. After the death of Younger brother, people buried his dead body near temple. Buried body is found even now in temple. The descendents of this ELDER brother and younger are still there in the place SULLA and the tradition even today is followed in temple.

In SULLA place people even now, they believe so much in LORD KALMESHWARA, every crop that they grow in farm, they first give to temple and then rest is soled to market. Basically to a people in that place LORD KALMESHWARA is a savior, any problem that they faced are put in front of LORD KALMESHWARA and problems are solved. People call LORD KALMESHWARA has Father, Grand Father and Protector etc.
